Grouphorse signs cooperation agreement with Huazhong University of Science and Technology

Updated:November 26, 2019

Grouphorse’s Wuhan branch and the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) signed a cooperation agreement on November 26, under which the branch will serve as a practice base for candidates of HUST’s Master in Translation and Interpreting (MTI) program.

Both parties will also comprehensively and closely work on a wide range of projects including launching internship programs at international organizations and the China Interpreting Contest (guided and endorsed bythe United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)).

Among universities in mainland China, HUST ranks 9th in the 2020 US News and World Report rankings, 15th in the QS World University Rankings 2020, and 10th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020.

Established in 1953, the SFL currently runs a doctoral program in Comparative Studies in Chinese and Foreign Languages and Cultures, a master’s program in Foreign Language and Literature, master’s programs in four subdisciplines, and an MTI program. Its Foreign Language and Literature is a provincial-level key discipline.

Grouphorse was among the first group of organizations accredited by China National Committee for Translation and Interpreting Education and Translators Association of China on July 19, 2014 as a practice base for MTI program candidates. Since then, we have served as the practice base for such candidates in some top universities included in Project 985, Double First-Class Project and Project 211 (national plans to develop key Chinese universities). HUST is the 10th “985” and “Double First-Class” university officially partnering with Grouphorse.

Grouphorse Chairman Tang Xing and General Manager of Wuhan branch Yang Liang met with SFL Dean Prof. Xu Mingwu and other key faculty members. Both sides said that they see big future in the cooperation.

As one of Grouphorse’s strategic branches in central China, the Wuhan branch will work harder to promote and deepen the interaction and information sharing between Grouphorse and universities in Hubei, in order to build better platforms for win-win cooperation as well as a sound system for industry-university integration.
