Grouphorse’s Shanghai branch and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) signed an agreement to establish a joint center for career education and development on April 12.

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is a top-ranked research university centering on economics, finance and business studies. It is under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of China and is one of the elite universities in the national Project 211 and Project 985. It has been the No. 1 university for excellence in finance and economics studies for five years. Since 2005, SUFE has achieved substantial improvements in terms of research and gained international reputation.

Tan Yuxu, director of the SUFE Career Service Center, said that the deep cooperation between SUFE and Grouphorse is a major step towards cultivating more translation and interpreting professionals, since Grouphorse has abundant resources and would provide interpreting and translation learners with lots of practice opportunities.

Grouphorse’s HR manager said both sides working together would bring the cooperation between universities and enterprises to a new level and set a good example for others in the industry.

The ceremony closed with a lecture given by Grouphorse’s senior interpreting trainer Mr. Zhou, who analyzed the dynamics of the current translation and interpreting market, and answered students’ questions about interpreting practice.

Grouphorse has been contributing to nurturing translation and interpreting professionals for years. It is one of China’s first practice bases for Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) candidates, and the official translation/interpretation service provider for a series of world-renowned events, including the XXVI Summer Universiade, the Boao Forum for Asia and the APEC Summit.
