Mr. Pan is a Chief Editor of the New Age Chinese-English Dictionary (published by 21st Century Publishing Group), a famous English professor at China Foreign Affairs University honored as the Distinguished Expert by the State Council, a visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a Fulbright senior scholar at Yale University, an honorary research fellow of the Commercial Press Research Center, an adviser at The World of English and China Translation and Publishing Corporation, a specially-engaged professor at the School of Foreign Languages at Sichuan Normal University, and a member of Re-evaluation Group of Contest and Evaluation Committee of the Han Suyin Award for Young Translators. Pan used to serve as the Head of the Chinese Simultaneous Interpreting Group of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, an academic member and a specially-engaged fellow of the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and a council member of the China English Language Education Association, the Translators Association of China, the Chinese Association of American Studies and the English Literature Association of China.

He has given lectures at Harvard University, Yale University, Johns Hopkins University and the University of Hong Kong.
